Why sharks with Amanda?

Amanda is a biologist, environmentalist, an well trained scuba diver, and holds a postgraduate degree in Environmental Management. She developed her own environmental education project, @ecotuba_, which aims to raise awareness about sharks.

In Brazil, where she was born, she developed her career as a civil servant for the City of Rio de Janeiro, where she managed the Dois Irmãos Municipal Natural Park, a landmark of the city and an important Conservation Unit, implementing environmental preservation and awareness programs for the community, specially where she developed excellent skills on marine education and public communication.

In addition, Amanda has a great experience in volunteered in several environmental campaigns, such as Sea Shepherd Brazil’s “Cação é Tubarão” (The Smooth-hound is a Shark), which aims to promote scientific awareness.

Currently, she is on a cultural and linguistic exchange in Dublin, with the aim of expanding her perspectives and strengthening her skills for future conservation projects on a global scale. Based there, these are all the reasons why Amanda Carneiro is also since 2024, our Sharks Educational Institute Correspondent in Ireland.
