Mauro Minaya

Why environmental education with Mauro Minaya?

Born in Peru, Mauro is an entrepreneur who has always lived very close to the sea and the Natural Protected Areas of Peru (ANP), such as the Paracas National Reserve. Since a very young age, he has known the importance of wildlife conservation and especially marine fauna for the sustainability of our planet. The experiences he had with rays, dolphins, whales and countless other animal species passionated him and led him to become involved in the defense and preservation of animal life.

He studied Communication Sciences at Universidad Privada San Martín de Porres in Peru with a focus on Social Responsibility, he was editor of the magazine “Visor” between 2010 and 2015 – a Peruvian weekly oriented towards society and actions of the local community. He later founded, led and directed the production team of the radio program “Cultura Viva”, between 2017 and 2020, promoting national and international culture, environmental news and Social Responsibility.

From 2006 to the present, Mauro Minaya is the CEO of MAFER TOURS S.A.C. a Peruvian company dedicated to sustainable tourism. Among the areas he develops in this company, trips and conferences dedicated to the conservation and care of animals stand out. Mafer Tours also develops study trips for schools on the most notable ecological destinations in the South American region with the aim of valuing education and nature preservation.

Currently, Mauro lives in Lisbon, Portugal, also close to the sea, and he is actively dedicated to researching, disseminating and teaching what he knows about marine environmental conservation. Since 2022 he has been a member of our shark friends’ team, and is actually our Correspondent for the Sharks Educational Institute in Peru.
