Sharks’ experiences
Diving with Tigers in Fuvamulah
Fuvamulah is a “traditional” spot known for a rich underwater biodiversity and of course by those huge Tiger Sharks opportunistically swimming around. The harbour entry, where fishermen clean their catch, heads and tails are dropped in the water and it becomes highly agitated.
The Tiger Sharks are coming here regularly for a long time. Nowadays, this “bait” has become an usual free meal for them. It is dropped from the boat, while divers 10 meters below are covering it with stones so the sharks need to recover it bit by bit.
This one was a normal 45 minutes dive between 6 m to 10 m depth around 10a.m. in a 29°C water. At the bottom, the visibility is normally excellent unless the sharks start silting up the sandy ground.
